Deschutes Brewery Fermentation Tanks

The Problem

Design support of ten (15 foot diameter by 30 feet tall) fermentation tanks on elevated structure weighing nearly 300,000 pounds per tank. Tanks required structure analysis to allow multiple loading configurations.

The Solution

Reinforced Concrete Moment Frame with 36 inch deep beam/slab sections and fifteen 30 inch square concrete columns bearing on a concrete footing and grade beam foundation system. Structure included two-way reinforced beam elements, multiple steel embed plates and concrete curbs for tank seismic anchorage.

The Result

A tasteful, highly visible industrial structure that allowed Deschutes Brewery to double beer production without interrupting operations.
